Foundation Corner & Concrete Repairs
Foundation corners are particularly vulnerable to physical damage and freeze-thaw deterioration. Whether from accidental impact, seasonal temperature cycling, or age-related concrete spalling, damaged corners and parging can accelerate water infiltration if left unaddressed.
Types of Repairs We Do
- Chipped & broken corners — poured concrete and block foundation corners
- Parging repair & replacement — above-grade foundation wall coating
- Divots and impact damage — chunks out of corners from landscaping equipment, etc.
- Garage door threshold repairs — concrete threshold raising and patching
Why Repair Foundation Corners?
A damaged foundation corner is more than an aesthetic issue. Exposed concrete or block absorbs water, which freezes and expands in winter — progressively worsening the damage each season. Water infiltration at corners can also compromise basement waterproofing systems or create entry points for moisture. Early repair is always less expensive than letting deterioration continue.
Our Repair Process
Assessment
We assess the extent of damage and determine whether the repair is cosmetic, structural, or both. We identify any underlying water infiltration issues that should be addressed simultaneously.
Surface Preparation
Damaged and loose concrete is removed to a sound substrate. Surfaces are cleaned and prepared for optimal adhesion of repair materials.
Repair Application
Appropriate concrete repair mortar or parging compound is applied in lifts, formed to match the original profile. Corners are tooled for clean, crisp edges.
Cure & Seal
Repairs are allowed to cure properly. Sealer or waterproofing treatment is applied where appropriate to protect the repair from future moisture infiltration.
Insurance Claim Repairs
We regularly assist homeowners with insurance claim documentation and repair for foundation damage. If your foundation damage resulted from a covered event, we can work with your insurance company to ensure the repair is properly documented and completed.
Parging — What It Is and When It Needs Replacement
Parging is the cement-based coating applied to the above-grade portion of your foundation wall. It protects the underlying block or concrete from weathering and gives a uniform appearance. Parging typically lasts 20–30 years but can crack, hollow, or delaminate earlier due to freeze-thaw damage, improper original application, or foundation movement. When parging fails, water gets behind it and accelerates deterioration of the foundation wall beneath.
